Welcome to the Christmas 2005 edition of the JA Fitness newsletter.
I thought it would be nice to pass on some seasonal tips which might help you at this busy time of year.
- Take care of your back. When out shopping make sure that you spread the weight of the bags evenly on both sides. Don’t be tempted to hold them all in one hand to find something, put them down. When you pick the bags up again make sure you bend your knees and stick your bottom out backwards with your chest lifted. If you are struggling take the bags to the car and come back for more shopping!
- Likewise when your children or grandchildren want to be picked up, use the same technique and try not to hold them on one side.
- Rather than everyone falling asleep after your Christmas lunch why not go out for a family walk.
- Lastly the old chestnut. If you are drinking, try one glass of alcohol, then one of water. I know it sounds boring but I promise you that it works.
To bring you up to date on my ongoing studies, I am now onto nutrition. I find it fascinating and I have found some very useful tips, one being that you should not have fruit and vegetables on the same plate, the good factor is neutralised, so no more pineapple on your gammon steak I’m afraid.
I have also learnt an incredible, natural way, to flush gallstones from the body. If anyone is interested please let me know.
The New Year is a wonderful time to start a new fitness regime. Why not start by walking. It can be quite boring, particularly if you take the same route each time so I have bought a cheap Walkman. The music can also make you walk at the right speed. Start off with some Motown or M People, working steadily up to Ricky Martin.
Please feel free to contact me if you need any tips or encouragement. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
